Legal Online Ordination

Have you felt a calling to start a ministry or a church? Would you like to officiate weddings, baptisms, or funerals? All of the above, and so much more, is available through the Universal Life Church Ministries, which offers legal online ordination at no charge. Over 20 million ministers have become ordained with the ULC, and there are no restrictions on who can apply. As a non-denominational religious organization, we are open to adherents of any faith or belief system. Applicants are expected to abide by two principles:

  1. Do that which is right.
  2. Worship however you see fit, so long as your practice does not interfere with the rights of any other to do the same and is in accordance with the law.

The ULC is an inclusive organization that believes that anyone who feels so-called and has a passion for people, purpose, and knowledge can lead a ministry. As an outgrowth of this guiding vision, we offer a simple online path to ordination. Ordination is free, and the application is simple to fill out here on our website.

Once ordained, you will be qualified to perform legal weddings and many other kinds of spiritual ceremonies. Best of all, your ordination is good for life the title never expires.

Understanding the Universal Life Church

Traditional religious denominations often have high barriers that can prevent people without the right connections or access to financial resources from pursuing their destined calling. The Universal Life Church was conceived to provide a more straightforward path to ordained ministry for people of various faiths, interests, and worldviews. We don’t require any form of rigorous examination or religious tests, and that’s intentional.

We do, however, expect applicants to operate in good faith, be responsible, remain open-minded, and respect other people’s backgrounds and views. Unlike some more traditional religions, our philosophy is not based on adherence to rules, dogma, or excluding people. Instead, the ULCM champions exploring new ideas, and celebrates the diversity of its membership.

Finding Purpose Through Ministry

It’s common for people to find themselves at a point in life where everything has become too routine. They may struggle with the feeling that they’re not fulfilling their true calling or purpose. Ministry, whether full-time or part-time, offers an avenue to define (or redefine) this trajectory.

Put simply: online ordination through the ULCM provides a path to something new. As ordained ministers, not only can ULCM members perform certain rites and ceremonies, but many have also gone on to start their own church or ministry.

Providing Support to Ordained Ministers Online

It has always been our goal to simplify the process of becoming ordained and open it up to as many people who have a true passion to serve others as possible. That’s why we don’t charge applicants to become ministers, nor do we charge for membership renewals. Official documentation, should you want or require it, is available in the minister store. We do ask that our ministers cover the cost of those items.

There’s no denying that ministry work can be daunting if you’re just getting started. That’s why we seek to support our members with all the tools and resources they might need, from assistance planning and performing weddings, to planting new churches or ministries, to pursuing other types of ministerial work.

If you feel a calling to become an ordained minister, we invite you to be a part of the Universal Life Church family by starting the ordination process today.
